From time to time comes a drama that leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of viewers. The drama we are referring to here is “Chocolate”. The name of the drama itself should make you feel good. As you might have guessed, yes, the drama does include some culinary themes in it. The drama is actually understated, but the viewers who watched it always vouched for it. The cast, the OST, and the cinematography of Chocolate deserve praise.
The drama was broadcast in November 2019 and aired by JTBC. Previously, JTBC gave us many dramas that make you feel happy, such as Something In The Rain, Moment at Eighteen, and 18 Again. No wonder the network has done it again with the drama Chocolate. Drama can be called part of life genre because the characters and situation shows are very realistic. Moreover, if you are fond of romantic dramas like us, then you will absolutely love drama. Although the drama does include some death and tragedy, this fact should not discourage you. It is part of the plot to show the growth of the character in the main leads. And we’ve already seen many dramas where the main threads are tied together due to the same joint shock, and that’s what brings them closer.
Also, we must not forget to mention that the drama has some great food moments too. We got your attention, right?
Now that we’ve given you some reasons to watch the drama, let me introduce you to the amazing team of chocolate. The drama features some of the best actors and actresses from the K-drama industry, and you’ll almost find out now.
Yoon Ki Sang
Actor and singer Yoon Kye-sang is playing the main lead role in the drama. Most people know Kye-sang about his time as a K-pop idol in the second generation of the hip-hop group god though he left the K-Pop scene to pursue acting, and luckily, here we are seeing him on our screens. Yoon Kye-sang plays Lee Kang, a neurologist who lives a reclusive life. He later changed his workplace from a hospital to a nursing home. The trailer for the show itself shows how he had a trauma that prevented him from doing his favorite thing in the world, which is cooking.
Ha Ji Won
Empress Ki’s badass actor, Ha Ji-won, stars in this romantic drama with a much newer side to show viewers. She stars as Moon Cha Young, who grew up to be an actress but ended up becoming a world famous chef. Her decision to become a chef dates back to her childhood and somehow relates to our main lead (obviously!). The actress is known for her versatility in her choice of roles, and chocolate is another feather to add to her hat.
Jang Seung Jo
Korean actor Jang Seung-jo plays Lee Joon. He is the cousin of Lee Kang, who is also a neurologist. Just like our chief captain, he is also stuck in his humble life and would like to pursue his passion for pottery. The talented actor has been a part of many other dramas like Encounter and the latest Snowdrop.

Popular music actor Teo Yoo is also part of the Chocolate cast. He plays the character Kwon Min-Seong. Min Seung is Lee Kang’s best friend. It has proven to have a history with our female leadership. Romantic at that. Even after her fallout, he lost the dish she used to make, and he kept stalking her even after their breakup.
Min Jin Woong
Last but not least, we have actor Min Jin-woong. He plays Moon Tae-hyun, Cha-yeong’s brother. Every K-Drama has a sad backstory for the main tournaments that also have problematic characters like Tae-hyun. He is the ungrateful brother of Chae Young who once abandoned her but came back when she was a famous chef. His true intention is only to snatch his sister.
Chocolate molding support
We have many veterans and new actors in side roles. We have Kim Boo-ja, who is Lee Kang’s grandmother and also the CEO of Geosung Hospital. Kim Won-hee, the owner of the Kang and Cha-young hospice in which he works. Kim Ho Jung plays the ex-wife of Kim Won-hee. On top of that, we have Shin Ha Young, who plays a hospice patient teaching Lee Joon pottery.
Therefore, the drama has a lot of important characters that we cannot mention, but they are essential in the story. Hence, this is a sign for you to watch drama. It’s super warm and will probably make you shake a tear or two. Watching chocolate here.
